Going Greener, The Start

Last week I decided it was time to do something better for myself and the environment.  I have a strong hope that it is possible to go green (or at least greener) without having to make much of a sacrifice.  This was reaffirmed after I told my husband I was going to do this and received a very grumbled look.  I believe it is just going to require some research and education.  This hope extends to the average Joe out there too, meaning that if more consumers were educated on the products they buy and the habits they have, they too can make greener decisions and know that they don’t have to give up much.

So this blog is going to cover what I’m doing to try to live greener.  This will include the research I’ve done, decisions I’ve made, and how it works or doesn’t work for me.  I hope this will inspire you to make better, more educated decisions about how you can contribute to making this world a better place to be.

Great Blog- Lots of helpful research, easy to use for non-techies like me. Am looking for a place to recycle batteries so I’ll give Earth911 a try.

Read an article that claimed that making a hybrid automobile engine uses more unrenewable resources than a regular one and that it wasn’t green in the long run. (It was not published by the auto or oil industry.) Didn’t save the article, which isn’t helpful. I think it dealt with mining nickel and the amount needed for the engine.
Have you heard anything about this?

That is an interesting notion that making a hybrid automobile is more harmful to the environment than the benefits… I will definitely search for that information to see what might be out there.

Great idea about bringing you own coffee cup to work. Another way to stay greener I have found is to do preventive maint. on your car the less your car has to work to get you from point a to b the less emmisions come out the back.
